The answer has been obvious for decades. Urbanization has displaced various animal species from their habitats, and along with some plant species, have disappeared.

For instance, there used to be thousands of varieties of rice. Now, the world is down to only a few because some varieties weren’t able to cope with the changes in the environment.

The pollution, too, from these urban areas have killed other living forms (not to mention, man).
